From Lennox Lewis and Herbie Hide to David Haye, and Anthony Joshua, Britain has produced many eminent world champions in the heavyweight category. But none of them had been able to rise to the stardom as Tyson Fury has. Since turning pro in 2008, Fury has found himself sharing the ring with some of the modern-day greats with the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Denotay Wilder and Dillian Whyte feeling the wrath of Morecambe native.
With such outings come colossal paydays. The eight-figure payrolls won’t be seeing their end anytime soon as the Gypsy King has still a lot to offer to boxing fanatics out there.
Tyson Fury Profile:
Tyson Fury was born on Manchester, England, Age: 35-years old, Height 6’9”, Weight: 277lb
Born in the outskirts of Manchester, England, Fury had to dig hard early in his life to make himself acclimatize to the outer environment as he was born three months premature. This fighting spirit compelled his patriarch to name him after then-undefeated world champion, Mike Tyson. Growing up, Fury was naturally attracted to the sport of boxing as his father, John Fury fought as a professional pugilist in the 1980s.
So, it was no brainer to Fury what he wanted to achieve as a professional. Under the tutelage of his father, Fury was able to polish his skills and soon, started to make rounds in the world of boxing. Almost eight years after entering the pro ranks, Fury finally got his first bite at the cherry as he scuffled with the Ukrainian, Wladimir Klitschko on the cold chilly night of Duesseldorf, Germany.
Fury dismantled “Dr Steelhammer” during all twelve rounds of this slugfest and became the first unified world heavyweight champion hailing from England since Lennox Lewis in 2003. That win meant there was only one way from there and that was to the top. But wait, not every journey to the summit is smooth, is it?
Fury’s Siblings and Family:
Fury family is no stranger to the entertainment world with Tyson’s youngest half-brother, Tommy Fury you most likely to know. Tommy embarked on the path of his elder brother and made his pro debut in 2018, but just one year later, Tommy nicknamed ‘TNT’ decided to take some time off of boxing and appeared on a reality TV show “Love Island season Five” in 2019, where he met his love of life, Molly-Mae Hague. The couple ended up as runners-up in the series, but it proved to be instrumental in Tommy’s development as a public figure.
Since then, the 24-year-old has shifted his entire focus towards boxing with his most notable victory coming against fellow YouTuber turned-boxer, Jake Paul in Feb 2023.
The remaining Fury siblings who rather tend to stay under the radar are Roman Fury, Shane Fury, Hugh Fury, and John Fury Jr.
Tyson Fury’s married life:
Tyson is married to wife, Paris Fury. The duo met when they were teenagers and decided to tie a permanent knot in 2008. The couple have an impressive brood of seven children; Venezuela, Prince John James, Prince Tyson II, Valencia, Prince Adonis Amaziah, Athena, and the latest arrival Prince Rico Paris. The love duo aren’t ruling out the possibility of the eighth one either.

Tyson Fury Charities:
Tyson Fury not only is a huge specimen but has a big heart as well. As mentioned earlier, not everyone enjoys the merry ride. Fury also had to deal with his demons as he succumbed to mental illness following his career-defining win against Klistckho. Fury had a tough battle overcoming his drug addiction habits, and once after complete rejuvenation, the Gypsy King has been actively dishing out a significant portion of his purse to different charities working out in society.
The notable one is the St. Vincent de Paul Santa Clara County charity that specializes in providing housing for recovering alcoholics and addicts. The Gypsy King has also contributed wholeheartedly to a charity called DEBRA, which helps people suffering from the painful genetic skin blistering condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
Tyson Fury next fight
With Joshua and Ngannou set to face each other later this year, this has opened the gates for the long-awaited clash between Usyk and the Gypsy King. After months and months of negotiations, the fight is finally on.
All five titles will be on the line when the two goliaths meet at the center of the ring this Saturday in Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The temperature is already boiling with the two teams sharing the blows even before the ring is blown. Fury’ father Big John Fury was cut open during a presser when he was having a go at the Usyk’s management. This further escalated the tensions.
Despite being a smaller man, the Ukrainian southpaw is confident that he will be able to shut down the Englishman with his slick counter punching and nimble footwork. It’s not the first time Usyk is fighting a heavy man, with Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois feeling the wreath of undefeated champion.
The mouth-watering clash could prove to be a final nail in the coffin in establishing Fury as the ‘Greatest Heavyweight of All Time”.
Only time will tell whether Fury has what it takes to be ‘GOAT’ or will it be Usyk to spoil the party for the Englishman. Stay tuned for the boxing extravaganza that is about to unfold in front of your eyes this Saturday.
